Summary
LiveWidget turns a short video you choose into a looping Home Screen widget. There is no account, sign-in, advertising or server of ours. Your videos, frames and preview wallpaper stay on your device. Anonymous usage analytics and crash reports are sent to Google Firebase and PostHog to improve the app; there is currently no in-app switch to turn analytics off. Apple handles optional Pro purchases. Rele Company ("we," "us," or "our") operates the LiveWidget app.
1. Choosing Photos and Videos
The app uses Apple's system photo picker (PhotosPicker) and can access only the item you pick: one video for a widget, or one image as wallpaper in the Home Screen preview. It does not request photo library permission and cannot browse other photos or videos in your library.
2. Video Processing on Your Device
You choose up to 3 seconds of video, and the app extracts up to 30 still frames per loop, cropped to the widget size. The Home Screen widget plays those frames in a loop. Optional background removal uses Apple Vision to isolate the subject, or removes a black or green-screen background. Frame extraction and background removal happen entirely on your device.
The selected video is copied to the app's temporary folder only while you edit it. That copy is deleted when the editor closes; only the extracted frames are kept. Neither the video nor the frames are sent anywhere.
3. On-Device Storage and Deletion
- Clips: Frame image files, clip name, widget size and shape, frame rate and background mode are stored in the device's App Group container. Optional D-day settings include your chosen date, theme and whether counting starts from 0 or 1. The widget extension reads this information on the same device.
- Preview wallpaper: The image you pick is saved as one image in the app's own storage so it appears the next time you open the preview. Picking another image replaces it. Deleting the app removes it.
Deleting a clip in the app removes its frames and clip information. Deleting the app removes the locally stored clips and wallpaper. This information is not synced to iCloud.
4. Widget Playback Status
The app asks iOS which clips are placed on Home Screen widgets so it can show their "playing" status. This information is used only on the same device and is never sent anywhere.
5. In-App Purchases (Optional)
LiveWidget Pro is available through Apple In-App Purchase as a monthly or yearly subscription, a lifetime purchase or a discounted lifetime purchase. Apple handles payment entirely. We never receive your card information or Apple ID details.
The app checks purchase status on your device using Apple's StoreKit. It stores only whether Pro is active and the subscription end time on the device so the widget can read them. You can manage or cancel subscriptions in iOS Settings › Apple ID › Subscriptions.
6. Data Used to Improve the App
Usage events are sent to Google Firebase Analytics (FirebaseAnalyticsCore) and PostHog; crash reports go to Firebase Crashlytics. The app does not use the advertising identifier (IDFA), sets ad storage and ad personalization consent to denied, and sends no ad signals. PostHog uses its US cloud host, us.i.posthog.com, with autocapture, screen-view capture, session replay and person profiles disabled.
- Getting started and opening screens: Onboarding completed; paywall viewed, including where it was opened from and which feature was locked; video imported, without its content; and Home Screen preview opened, including widget size.
- Purchases and restores: Purchase started, completed, cancelled, pending or failed, and purchase restoration. Purchase-related properties contain only the plan type.
- Saving a clip: Widget size, quality, frames per second, frame count, background mode, shape, whether D-day is enabled, its theme and the count-from-0-or-1 setting.
- Managing clips and D-day: Clip renamed or deleted, without the name. D-day set or removed, with its theme and counting setting, never the date.
- Offers: Discount banner shown or tapped, discount paywall viewed, and monthly offer sheet shown, accepted or declined.
- Common properties: Whether you use Pro or the free version, and the app language. Debug builds also include a debug flag.
- Crash reports: Device model, iOS version, app version, crash location and diagnostic information, sent to Crashlytics.
- Installation identifiers: Firebase and PostHog each create a random anonymous identifier per installation. These change when the app is deleted and reinstalled.
- Approximate region: Google Analytics may infer a country- or city-level region from the connection's IP address. The app does not use GPS or Location Services.
There is currently no in-app switch to turn analytics off. These usage statistics and crash reports cannot identify you as a person. Please send questions or deletion requests to the contact email below.
Google Analytics data is retained for up to 14 months. PostHog data is retained according to PostHog's retention settings. Their privacy practices are described at firebase.google.com/support/privacy and posthog.com/privacy.
